rivrea, please don't expect too much, it's been ages since I've written this, most of my thoughts while writing it have probably been lost in time. I'm still taking commentary requests if you're interested, by the way.
More than two years ago, even. How time flies. I’m not sure I remember two whole years between then and now… Back then, we barely knew each other. I really just happened on the entry where Dune asked for a beta, and I offered. It was the start of a beautiful friendship.
Hello, this is your friendly neighbourhood beta
xwingace. Dune asked if I would give some input in this commentary as well, since I did a little more than just a spelling and grammar check on this story. I’m happy to assist, but the bulk of the blame remains with Dune.
I can't state often enough that I wouldn't know where I'd be without you *snuggles*
Title: We'll Always Have Paris
[The first Casablanca reference I ever sneaked in, even if it's obvious. It started out as a joke, the line fit the fic so well that Xwingace suggested it was the perfect title. And she was right. Other possibilities were stolen movie titles like 'Forget Paris' or 'Paris, je t'aime' if I recall correctly]
[Dune asked for an idea for a title. I came up with a list, mostly off the top of my head as I recall, and she picked one. “We’ll always have Paris” was at the top of that list, but not the other two mentioned here. The stolen movie title was “Things to do in Paris when you’re not dead (yet)”. Yeah. “We’ll always have Paris” is definitely better.
For the record: To my shame, I have never even seen Casablanca. This particular phrase is just like many Shakespeare quotes: just part of the English idiom, and to me it fit.]

Summary: Losing your memories is mostly like visiting Paris. You can’t just read the guide book, you’ve got to throw yourself in, use the wrong verbs, get charged double and end up kissing complete strangers.
Notes: Huge thanks to my beta
xwingace, who wasn’t just helpful with corrections and offered much needed adivce but actually made this thing work (and gave it a proper title... and managed to tear my monster sentences into smaller pieces ^^). You’d be the best field researcher for The Guide ever! Thank you!
