Fic: Stumble in my Footsteps

Title: Stumble in my Footsteps
Summary: She felt safer when he was around. She had no idea, Jack thought.
Characters: Jack, Rose, Nine
Spoilers: Set somewhere after the Doctor Dances
Rating: PG
Word count: 2499
Notes: Well, as I suppose this will be my last free day before all hell breaks loose again, I can as well get this off my chest. This was betaed by steviesun (thank you so much for your help), all further edits are my own fault. This is a WiP that was originally inspired all the fic which frequently transforms Jack into a nice guy as soon as he entered the TARDIS... I see him a bit different, but I needed more than 20 months (that brought us Torchwood and showed a darker Jack as well) to actually finish this and find the courage to show it to somebody... so I'd be really grateful for any kind of comment telling me if it works/if there're any mistakes left. Be honest, please?? *frets*

I'm not looking for absolution
Forgiveness for the things I do
But before you come to any conclusions
Try walking in my shoes
You'd stumble in my footsteps

- Depeche Mode

---

It was only in the quiet of his newly assigned bedroom that he dared to run a first preliminary scan of the ship he stumbled into.

The artificial evening had been spent with dancing and flirting, checking out new territory, trying to avoid topics that made the smouldering anger of the Doctor tangible (Rose/stealing ships/asking about the TARDIS flight controls). The man was too perceptive Jack had decided when a stifled a yawn lead to the end of his latest and quite enjoyable dance lesson.

Now he had his own room (and just how big was this ship?) and a reasonably sized bed. He'd guessed (and been proven right as he’d glimpsed Rose's pink dream of a room) that his sparse quarters were meant as a message from their designated driver, but after 1941 the prospect of a soft mattress was all the luxury he'd hoped for.

Now, after an extremely hot shower, he stopped fingering his Wristcomp to actually run the long overdue scan of this ship and his mysterious host. It took the little device a few moments to finish, which Jack spent by shaking droplets of water out of his still damp hair, whilst pacing the room.

Those two had made him save the world, made him nearly sacifice his life and that had changed everything. He would be damned if he didn't find out how they made him have a conscience, something he'd left behind a long time ago.

When the computer finally beeped and showed a highly unlikely flow of data, all Jack could do was sit down on his bed, drawing his knees up and stare at the small screen.

"Whoa," he said softly when he scrolled past the details of the inner dimensions and other technical features. He said it more to himself than the darkness, realizing too late that a dark shade was leaning against the doorframe of his open door. He could've sworn he'd locked it.
Belatedly he realized the scan hadn't stopped, but happily continued to supply data about the alien (he never noticed, he was getting sloppy) suddenly in range for a proximity scan.
He stared wide eyed at the simple truth of a bioscan, which was even more shocking than the theories he'd already had about the owner of this ship.

"Oh," was all he could bring out when he finally understood, watching the dark shape of a Time Lord disappear into the artificial night.

This was going to be interesting.

+++

Step One was the most important one: Get her/him/it drunk.

Drinks were followed by more drinks, talkativeness and then finally - his favourite step - seduction.

An evening spent with a Time Lord's companion, for example, should work wonders on their relationship and should reduce the chances of being left behind on a godforsaken rock like the one they were currently parked on.
The Doctor'd grant her every wish even if that meant keeping an annoying passenger from 1941 until said passenger had reached a destination that wasn’t such a backwater world as this.

And Jack liked Step One, especially when his target was as sweet as Rose, currently drunk on a single glass of Tetradian Fire Water.

The sleazy bar wasn't perfect, but the stupid TARDIS had refused to supply alcohol, and as Rose had wanted to see their pit stop from up close anyway things were finally working out. She obviously hadn't seen many of the common garage colonies, otherwise she would've never agreed to come along while the Doctor was happily hunting for spare parts.

Judging the hesitant (albeit hazy) look on her face, her fondness of pit stops was already waning.

Jack was about to get up and take the next step on the road to seduction (buy more drinks) when Rose's eyes cleared suddenly and worry clouded her pretty eyes. For a fleeting moment she looked vulnerable, scared to be left alone in a shady alien bar on a shady alien world. Her hand gripped his arm, preventing his beeline towards the blue-skinned barkeeper and she smiled as he hesitatingly sat back down.

He frowned. She actually felt safer when he was around.

He wondered if she was gullible or really that innocent, but both possibilities felt like a kick to the stomach. This was too easy, even for him. He downed his own drink in one gulp to blot out the taste of his own conscience.

"Can we go home now?" she slurred and smiled, oblivious to what she'd just done to him. He didn't even have time to wonder how a 21st century girl could think of an alien space ship as home because she was already stumbling towards the bar’s next airlock.

He paid hastily and followed, unconsciously leading her around the tables of the more dubious patrons.
Outside, her tiny hand sneaked into the crook of his arm, her head coming to rest on his shoulder as they made their way back towards the TARDIS.

"My protector," she smiled. She had no idea, Jack thought guiltily.

+++

On a mining asteroid a Pandiran slaver was taking too much interest in her.

Jack saw the revulsion in her eyes, but she was smarter than to move against the claw caressing her cheek, slowly travelling down towards her throat. She clearly suspected - and he knew - what these claws could do to her skin. It made him nauseous.

"Pretty..." the creature drawled, as if assessing an object, not a scared girl.

Something dark stirred inside him, something that never growled quite like that before, not even once during so many similar scenes he'd witnessed all over the galaxy. He knew how dangerous it was to interfere. But he'd never felt angry about it before, he realized.

He could've found his own time ship here, but right now leaving that girl behind was not an option. She had done that to him with her stupid innocent trust.

When claws travelled over one of her breasts, the flare of anger grew into a wildfire, burning away any rational thought. Before a far too long tongue could taste her skin, he grabbed the thing's head from behind and snapped its spine with one swift movement.

Rose's confusion turned into disbelief the same moment the dead slaver hit the ground with a soft thud, hesitating as Jack offered her his arm again. He'd just saved her from a life of slavery but still the fear in her eyes hadn't faded.

"You killed him," the disbelief mingled with shock made her voice shake. Of course he did, what had she expected? He shrugged. The bastard deserved it. The other witnesses, obviously thinking something similar and not willing to pick a fight scattered quickly.

Another day saved. He could get used to this, he smiled, stashing the plans of stealing time ships carefully away. This was not a bad life at all for now.

The walk back to the TARDIS was spent in silence nevertheless, Rose cautious of his every move, hugging herself as if she was cold, keeping her distance. He'd protected her, yet the way she looked at him made him uneasy.

He just didn't understand her.

+++

He threw her around the last corner, shoving her into the first alley he could find and pinned her to the wall with the weight of his own body.

Outside the soldiers closed in, determined to find and eliminate the heathens who'd had the nerve to look directly at the Holy Patrol controlling the market. It was always the simple things that got them into trouble, Jack sighed as he made sure they were well concealed in the faint shadows of this desert world.

He could hear screams coming closer, unlucky passers-by who were paying for their break in protocol while the Patrol closed in like a vengeful storm.

He almost realized too late that Rose was fidgeting under his grip, struggling to get free. For a moment he wondered if she'd lost her mind, but then the urgency in her eyes turned to guilt when shots echoed through the small streets. She was desperate to stop the killing of innocents.

He understood. He didn't let her move a single inch.

His hand closed over her mouth when she tried to protest, which made her struggle even harder. He made sure her fight was soundless. Heavy footsteps marched by, the clinking of armour and weapons drowning out the sounds of wailing and agony.

Jack stared at her, silently ordering her not to move a muscle. Their hiding place was a dead end and they would be shot on sight. He wouldn't let this happen just because of her misguided sense of guilt, he'd keep her safe.
Her struggle suddenly seized, disbelief and anger warring in her eyes. It made him uneasy. He let her go once the footsteps had faded, leaving a deadly and complete silence behind.

They made their way back in time to witness the Doctor start a revolution, power to the people and all the truisms heard so many times all over the galaxy.
Rose responded with her usual delight once the Doctor had explained his plans. They hugged, oblivious to the fact that another kind of inquisition would roll over this planet soon, thanks to them. Jack had seen this too many times before to feel happy, even the Doctor's overjoyed (and possibly unplanned) hug felt stale. But Rose smiled at the Time Lord, and only the glances she gave him still held that hint of disbelief she'd shown in that alley.

He buried his hands in his pockets, trying to understand what he'd done wrong.

+++

That girl was a trouble magnet, Jack thought to himself, getting closer to the Xintaran currently clasping Rose's shoulders. How had she survived before they met?

Other side of the galaxy, different century, same old, same old. The furry paws travelled over her arms and that anger was burning in his mind again. He approached in time to hear a purred "beautiful" roll out of the creature's snout.

He wondered why everybody was so keen to get his hands/paws/claws on an average blonde human, but then he had to admit that he wouldn't say no to her himself. But she would never offer and he would never take by force. He had some standards, after all. Not like the scumbag currently trapping her in his grip, obviously.

He sneaked closer, prepared to give this one the usual treatment, suddenly halting when Rose's pleading eyes locked with his.
He frowned. Didn't she want his help? He could clearly see the fear in her rigid form, so why would she beg him to stop?
He remembered her shock when he'd killed that maggot of a slaver and sighed. So far away from home and still so oblivious to the way things worked.

No killing. Oh, hell.

He unwrapped his most charming smile and tapped the furry shoulder of her stalker.

"Hi," he purred, pressing all the Xintaran buttons. His smile turned at least partly real when the paws fell away from the Rose’s shoulders, beady black eyes devouring him instead of her.

"Want a drink, gorgeous?" he tried not to mind the fangs of the predatory grin, fiddled with the canine's mane and felt more than heard the affirmation. This one was easy. A very heavy arm settled on his shoulder, leading him away.

He turned around to make sure Rose was fine and free to return to the Doctor, only to see the by now too familiar shocked expression on her face. He'd just saved her without killing, why wasn't she glad?

"Don't wait up," he grinned, not feeling as cheeky as he sounded when the frown on her face intensified. What had he done now? For such an open person, she was incredibly hard to read, and obviously even harder to please.

Xintaran mating rituals. He sighed and ordered a hypervodka. Killing would've been so much easier.

+++

He returned hours later, certain that the blue box would be long gone now, thanks to that obviously misunderstood quip he'd thrown at Rose. But he had nowhere else to go.

His body was aching in places he never knew it could, muscles slumping with relief when he spotted the TARDIS still parked where they’d left it, patiently waiting for him as he shuffled closer.

His hands stopped inches over the door, realizing he had no key to open it.

He sighed, leaning against the cool blue wood, willing his body to go on for just a bit longer, until a very hot shower could take care of all the aches. But the soft touch of his back was enough to let the door swing inwards, revealing the cavernous room that felt so much more like home than it should.

Near the console, the Doctor was fiddling with something that looked remotely like an ancient gravity pump, not even acknowledging his presence. Important work, Jack was sure. But no questions? That was new. He'd expected another Don't Wander Off Speech at least. But then those were mostly reserved for Rose, Jack supposed he just happened to be present whenever they were held. Either the Doctor knew he could take care of himself or he simply didn't care.

Jack guessed the silence was a bad sign, so he started towards the inner doors, craving hot water and his bed.

"She's scared of you sometimes," the Doctor sighed behind him, almost inaudible beneath that soothing background hum of the time ship.

Jack stopped, unable to move another muscle. So it was time for the Goodbye You Idiot Talk he'd anticipated since he first set foot into this ship. Had to happen sooner or later, but still it hurt. He'd come to like the carefree life those two led, worries, and a seemingly infinte amount of tea.

"She doesn't understand you," the Time Lord continued, "her 21st century mind can't work you out."
The voice was soft, but something dangerous was hidden underneath. So the Doctor and Rose had had a good long talk about their newest companion. Good for them. Most certainly bad for him, though.

"What you are, what you do." The icy blue of the Doctor's eyes left no doubt that it had been a very long talk; with confessions about slavers and revolutions and things that made Jack's body feel like raw meat just now.
"But I do." The Time Lord made his way around the console, mustering Jack carefully, a saturnine expression obscuring his features.

Jack hung his head, wondering if he'd be allowed to get his few possessions before being thrown out. Instead something silvery was flung towards him, his instincts making him reach out to catch it before realizing that it was a key. A TARDIS key.

"Can't leave the door ajar all the time, can I?" The manic grin on the Time Lord's face was back as if nothing had ever happened.

Jack was sure he'd never heard 'Welcome aboard' quite like that before.

who_daily? a href=http://dune-drd.livejournal.com/278044.html>Stumble in my Footsteps</a> by lj user=dune_DRD> (Jack, Rose, Nine | PG | Spoilers: The Doctor Dances

Oh, I'd go and squish them now if I had the time and that damn park wasn't so expensive. It's just around the corner, after all.

CUTE OVERLOAD! (Near Dortmund, pffft. Once again we don't exist).

In other news, I have a new stalker. Do I wear a giant sign telling these people to talk to me? Oh, hell. Note to self: Don't take the train at 11:30 anymore.

She's been left behind on a godforsaken beach in the middle of nowhere once again, and her heart breaks.

"I'll need money," the man next to her frowns, sniffing the air as if to make sense of this world. He looks so lost, she thinks, so much like her Doctor. "Where do you get money again?" he asks her, and she kisses him out of reflex, trying to chase that deep frown from his forehead.
He is as lost as she is, and she clings to this last link to the life she left behind forever. A life she didn't say goodbye to this time.

But still the Doctor is standing next to her, his hair flopping in the breeze. She sighs. They'll work something out.

---

He kisses her gently, licking her tears away and idly stroking her back as she lies next to him in the small hotel room just a few miles from the Norwegian beach that changed her life forever. Twice.

His skin is warm to the touch, and she listens to his single heartbeat, slowing now after the rapid staccato it beat in their throes of passion. So human, she thinks. She inhales his unique scent, so familiar that she wants to cry even harder.

It feels like a betrayal, it feels like coming home. When did everything become so confusing?

---

She is not the girl she once was, and he was technically only born a week ago, but still she is shocked to see him grab a weapon after the briefing of his first Torchwood mission.
He raises his brow questioningly when she hesitates, watching him while coldness forms in her stomach. It's wrong to see him wielding a weapon. He doesn't stop, handling the gun like it's a part of his arm, and she suddenly understands how different this man is to the Time Lord she loved.

*

"Help it," he begs her, his eyes so dark and pleading that she wants to hug him, lead him away from everything that can hurt him like this. But this is Torchwood, and the gun in his hands is still glowing softly from the single shot that felled this Weevil.

The creature breathes heavily, its breath condensing in the cold night air. Unwavering it looks at the man standing above it.

A man, she thinks, he's just a man who had never looked his prey in the eye before. Before this, he'd always run away. She notices that he is still clutching his gun, his fingers gripping it so tight it must hurt. The turmoil in his eyes doesn't fade when she calls his name, he barely acknowledges her presence as she takes the weapon from him.

They watch together as the Weevil shudders its last breath, and she understands what the Doctor - the real Doctor - meant when he said this one needed help. She's just not too sure she is the right person to give it.
She can't feel pity for this creature at her feet. It slaughtered its way through a night club before they found it. She has changed since their - her - travels, she knows.

He hides the guilt away, his eyes growing hard when she tells him it was him or the creature. Of course he knows that. He nods to himself, and wordlessly strides off into the night.

*

"I'm not him," he yells at her when she finally finds him atop a skyscraper, staring at the stars as if they hold all the answers.

He reminds her of Donna in that moment, screaming at creation to make sense. There is no answer. The stars stay quiet as they did so many nights for her, too.

Of course he's not him. If he was, he'd have been insane by now, trapped in one time, on one world. She wonders if he knows how human he looks right now.
She simply nods as he stares silently into the night, kisses him, guides him away from the sheer drop into darkness. He has no concept of mortality, has never cared much about it before.

He has to start living soon, she knows, and she isn't helping.

---

"You can't be sure," he growls at her father. "Their entire race lives to a code or war and honour." He jabs at the latest readings of the Sycorax ship angrily. "How do you know they're not meaning us when they ask to trade for cattle?" He waves her hand away, ignoring her messages to cool down. "You should fire now, before they pass Jupiter. Just in case."

The board room is silent, the members of Torchwood One digesting the intel of their alien expert. What shocks her isn't his willingness to wipe the approaching ship out of the sky. It is the simple word 'us' that gets to her. She leaves the room, his continued rant about hostile races muffled by the door.

His knowledge was totally based on their data, not one spark of useless information that the old him would've thrown in that could've been useful, nothing about swordfights, honour and the power of a word given.

He forgot.

She makes it to the toilet before she breaks down and sobs uncontrollably.

He forgot. She cries even harder, muffles the sounds with her hand. Her Doctor is truly gone.

---

They agree to call him John Smith, for no one dares to mention the other part of him, the alien part that travels the stars, always alone, always hurting. That's not him, not anymore.

He makes mistakes, forgets to lock his door, loses his keys, can't program his VCR. It's so human she wants to scream.

And there's so much wrath beneath that thin body, always wearing t-shirts and a blue suit. He can't stand brown.

On a rainy Saturday, his face crunches up with disgust at the taste of edible ball bearings and tea. She suddenly realizes that not only the memories, but the entire Time Lord persona must be fading, leaving the human brain behind, angry at everything, feeling empty and alone.

The Doctor's most prominent emotions.

The wrath will soon be forgotten, too, but it's not her doing. She's not sure if she wants to laugh or weep. He needed her innocence, but all he got was a girl with a gun and an organization that protects his favourite planet by any means necessary.

If she doesn't destroy him with the memories of a man he can never be, the life at Torchwood certainly will.

He prefers coffee, he tells her, absentmindedly staring at the rain outside as she drops a Retcon pill into his cup. He stumbles over his words when she asks him if he'd like to stay with her, nodding drowsily instead.

He's unconscious before he can form any words.

He's just a man, she knows, and she quietly cries as she calls a clean-up team. She left her old life behind when she crossed the Void, and now she's leaving the Doctor. Again.

It shouldn't still hurt so much.

---

John Smith sips his coffee, gazing at the London skyline. It was a great idea to buy this flat, he thinks, the sunlight and the panorama just perfect for his muse.
Two more paintings done today, so he can keep the promise he gave Lindsey's art gallery. It's not much, but he'll get there eventually. They love his mind, they tell him, but only Rose loves him for himself. That's all that counts.

"I was thinking about holidays," he turns to watch her, and she smiles at him in delight. She's working too hard in that law firm, he thinks. A holiday would be the perfect solution. Lindsey's paid in advance, too. His treat, for a change.

"I was thinking Venice, perhaps?" he ventures. His car might not make it, but he'd love to traverse Europe with her. And his old girl the blue Ford has seen worse than Italian motorways.

She squeals with delight, hugging him tight. He thinks he loves this girl and her wanderlust.

*

She smiles and kisses John Smith, enjoying the sound of his lonely heart beneath her hand.

He's not the Doctor, and she's not his companion, they still have a long way to go. But they'll make it, one step at a time.

Interesting thought about Destiny in the Whoniverse

Davros only needed to succeed in one single universe of the entire Multiverse to fulfil his plan and rip everything apart. Yet, it didn't happen in our reality or anyone else's (because reality's still there, isn't it?), which makes Donna through her intervention not only the most important incidence not only in our universe, but of all creation since the Big Bang.

I wonder creating her (by letting her cross paths with the Docotr again and finally by locking her in the TARDIS) was a defense mechanism of the Multiverse, much like the Reapers were?

Off to uni now, wish me luck, I can need it the next week or so *frets*. Anyone still want to enter that book swap? All I managed to find were 2 people, I still need 4 more!

Also I still need a beta for another JE fic... please? I won't have much time writing the next week (see above) and it's eating me up because a) it wants out, but b) is totally generic and c) is probably gibberish anyway :(

Fic: The Woman in the Mirror

Title:The Woman in the Mirror
Summary: Sometimes, when the day was long and she's exhausted, she dreams.
Fandom(s): Doctor Who
Characters: Donna
Spoilers: Set after 4x13 Journey's End
Rating/Warnings: None
Word count: 452
Notes: Thanks to doona_rose for her help as a beta. Oh noes, it's another Journey's End fic! Run for your lives! Just my little take on that ending... there's another one lurking on my harddrive...
Fic Masterlist: Here.

Sometimes, when the day was long and she's exhausted, she dreams.

Weird dreams (weirder than the one where she was Brad Pitt's one-armed dogsitter) about planets of snow and cities on fire, of people singing her name in golden sunlight. She wakes from them with a headache, always a headache, trying to remember why she's working as a temp again. Then the headache leaves, and she remembers that she never did anything else. Somehow, that always makes her heart ache.

She shouldn't wonder about Earth so much on her way to work, she knows, shouldn’t wonder why no one is helping that homeless guy who's fallen down, why no one bothers to stop and ask the crying girl if everything is all right. Why no one cares.

She does, because somehow she knows that no one else will.

She looks at herself in the mirror late at night, when the dreams hunt her into wakefulness, staring at a stranger. She tries to see what changed on that night when she fell asleep in her clothes, when everyone else hallucinated planets in the sky. She wonders about their visitor on that strange evening, asks herself if she should've been more polite to the pin-striped man. She didn't have her dreams then, just brushed everything off with a hand-wave that didn't concern her. Why is her mother so supportive all of a sudden, why is Gramps looking so sad every time he trundles off with his daft telescope?

She doesn't understand, but still she feels a pang of loss.

The woman who looks back at her from the mirror is not her, the fine lines around her eyes speak of pain and wisdom, the lines tugging at her lips of compassion and more pain.

She doesn't shout at the world anymore, because now she understands it's no use.

Instead, she buys the homeless guy a warm meal, calls the police for the lone mugged tourist, helps the overcharged temps at her new job with their workload, explains the printer to that pretty thing her boss chose as an assistant, but who clearly has the IQ of plankton (weird association, Donna thinks, where did that come from?).
Already, that has brought her a promotion. Donna Noble's star is finally rising. She thinks it's her dreams, and wonders how her mother can tell, never complaining about her.

She doesn't want to lose the dreams, she thinks, even for the headache and that feeling of loneliness that haunts her throughout the day afterwards.

She stares at the Donna in the mirror now, and she's not a stranger anymore.

She changed for a reason she doesn't understand. She likes that woman better than the one she was before.

who_daily: a href=http://dune-drd.livejournal.com/276116.html>The Woman in the Mirror</a> by lj user=dune_DRD> (Donna | No rating | Spoilers: Journey's End)

Daleks around the World

So, let's learn foreign languages with the Daleks!

We already know what "EXTERMINATE! Stop! Or you will be exterminated. You are a prisoner of the Daleks." is in German, any more translations from you that are out there? Only if you are sure it's correct, though. I mean, if they're taking over the world, they got many languages to learn ^^

German: "Exterminieren! Halt! Sonst werden wir Sie exterminieren! Sie sind jetzt ein Gefangener der Daleks!"

Latin: "Internecate! Consiste! Vel te interneceris. Captivi Dalekum estis."

Dutch: "Extermineeren! Halt! Anders zullen wij U extermineeren! U bent nu een gevangene(r) van de Daleks!"

Spanish: "¡EXTERMINE! ¡Pare! O le exterminarán. Usted es un preso del Daleks"

Polish: ""Zgładzić! Stój, albo zostaniesz zgładzony. Jesteś więźniem Daleków.""

Finnish: TUHOTKAA! Seis! Tai sinut tuhotaan. Olet Dalekien vanki.

Italian: "Esterminate! Alt! Altrimenti sarete esterminati. Adesso siete i prigionieri dei Dalek!"

Persian: Estisal Kardan! Beh eest! O shomā estisal khāhid kard! Zendānid az Dalekhāye bāshid!"

French: Exterminer! Arretez! Sinon nous allons vous exterminer! Maintenant vous êtes un prisonnier des Daleks!

Russian: "ИСТРЕБИТЬ! Стоп! Или будете истреблены. Вы в плену у Далеков!" ( "ISTREBEET! Stop! Ili budete istreblenee. Vy v plenoo u Dalekov!")

Swedish: UTROTA! Stanna! Annars blir du utrotad. Du är Dalekernas fånge."

Czech: "VYHLADIT! Zastavte! Nebo budete vyhlazeni. Nyní jste vězňem Daleků."

Serbo-Croatian: Istrebiti! Stanite! Ili cete biti istrebljeni! Vi ste zatocenik Daleka.

Japanese: 抹殺せよ!やめる!かおおめらを抹殺せよ! おめらはダーレクのひとじちだ [Romaji] masatsu! yameru! ka omera wo masatsu! omera wa Da-reku no hitojichida.

4x13 - Journey's End

Why am I always so hyped up after episode 12, and then almost lose interest when 13 is finally there? Maybe it's the prospect of no Who until Christmas :/

I had very great fun with the German scenes, of yes. First I cheered for Germany getting mentioned (I'm easy, I know), then I actually laughed out loud when Geman Daleks shouted EX-TER-MINIEREN. EAT THAT, DUBBERS!
*laughs*
Well, at least now we know that Daleks have British accents when they fly through Bavarian Forests (Briggs was actually quite good at speaking German, maybe it comes with the Dalek rythm of speech?).

Is it a good sign when really grave scenes make you giggle because even though they spent millions on CGI, they can't get a language coach? It was quite cringeworthy to listen to their accents (it was fine for Martha for in my world it proves she toured Germany in the Year That Never Was; but really not for the German caretaker... and why could she tell about London from Martha's German anyway?), even though I'm impressed that their grammar was almost completely correct apart from Martha's answer to "Fahr zur Hölle" which was quite.... WHAT?! Didn't make sense.

Er, and why Nürnberg of all places? (my money was on Badenweiler... which is a nod no one outside the Alias fandom will get).

And did they imply a German came up with a plan like that (and that in a land where people behead wax!Hitler out of protest)? Quite a bit offensive, I think. Do we even have nuclear warheads? Have you seen what happens when they transport nuclear waste around here?
Still, I was greatly amused, which was clearly not RTD's intent with that scene... And no, Osterhagen is not a very common name around here.

ETA: BBC posts the part of the script with a translation and thus proves that someone didn't learn their subjunctive quite correctly *g* I'm still impressed, though

ETA 2: 'Notausgang' signs in German type IN FRONT OF AN ELEVATOR. Just... no. You don't understand us at all when you edit something like that in.

Well, er, plot happened. Expected things happened (thank God he didn't regenerate), spoilers that were thought to be too wacky happened (NAKED TENNANT! WHY NO CROTCH SHOT, EH?!) and so on. I wasn't really gripped by it.

Aw, the Doctor/TARDIS emo was wonderful. Because he was begging to die with her, not save Donna. Oh yes.

UNEXPECTED CLOTHED JACK! This proves it, the coat must be made of asbestos, like his underwear. First surviving 2000 years in a grave and then a Dalek incinerator? Come on! Loved the dirty ideas he obviously had at the thought of 3 Doctors, the entire fandom must've agreed ^^

Can Jack please stop use dying as a Get Out Of Jail Free card? It's very scary how carelessly he accepts it. Wiley Coyote had better plans than that

Donna flirting with Jack = AWESOMENEST AWESOME WIN EVER. Almost as great as Jack/Mickey... they shouldn't call them the Doctor's Children of Time, though, that makes shipping them icky

First time ever I was convinced by Davros as a Mad Scientist. And he remembered Sarah Jane. Heh.

DoctorDonna. Oh hell yes. We always knew she was brilliant. For a second I thought she'd become a true Time Lady, she would've been an awesome Romana, with all that technobabble and when she talked about those moving mountains

"That's how a TARDIS is meant to be piloted" made me go 'awwwww'. Still, not enough time for all the companions (well, I'd say it was adequate for one hour), and a bit too much CGI. But it was good to see them all being (partly) useful.

Towing of Earth was cheesy, but I actually loved it. It was an awesome scene, and so much better than God!Doctor last year

Oh, Davros was so right about the Doctor's companions. They'd risk it all to save their homeworld, even genocide. It's the way of the universe, and isn't it exactly that what the Doctor did? He shouldn't be so surprised.

Rose has her own Doctor version now. I'm not quite sure I like that, the Doc!clone story was a bit too rushed to be really convincing. Die me, Dichotomy, you know. At least the clones were not twins, with clone!Doc actually grown out of a fighting hand. Sharing the same memories was almost too much already, how can he stay on AU!Earth and be happy? Meh. I would've bet good money they'd merge again or that the clone would die

I still like Original!Doc better, mostly for his inability to say those three words, and rather fleeing AU!verse before saying another goodbye. The genocide thing was clearly a nice way of getting rid of his more human side... I like my Doctor to be alien and emo, yes I do.

So... will the Ten/Rose Reunion fics now fade to give way to the AU!fics? Not that I read many of them, but it would be interesting to see how that develops in fandom

Someone should write an AU where a) clone!Doc always wants to shoot all the aliens AU!Torchwood encounters or b) Ten and clone!Ten travel together. Now that would be wacky.

I might have cried quite hard for Donna. Because I know how it is to grow after experiences you've made, and the thought of losing that again to go back to the way I was before is terribly frightening. Taking her time in the TARDIS away is so terribly unfair. And we get that ending after we all know how different she can be to the woman we saw before. I am heartbroken for her, that scene in the kitchen was so painful.

And poor Doctor, he should stay with Torchwood for a while, you know, I can see him enter the Hub to the Cheers theme tune... now there's a vid bunny! Pretty please?

It was an end, surely. It lacked a few key scenes I'd hoped for (especially as RTD obviously tried to resolve everything we were still wondering about, eg Gwen/Gwyneth yet not mentioning Rose immortalizing Jack), sliding off into fanfiction territory with that second beach scene. It wasn't as good as I hoped it would be, but it was okay, I guess. 6/10

Excuse me while I watch that scene in German again, it's just so hilarious ^^

Who Alarm!

Finale soon, people! Finale! I'm really, really nervous about this one, so it was quite fitting that the moment I realized that the last episode would air today, my town's disater warning system was tested again. It's quite an adequate sound for how I feel, actually, and I love the sound to bits (especially when those in the vicinity seem to answer)... well, during testing phases, when you hear it in the dead of the night, it's never a good sign :/

I was that close to geek out over my only English customer today. GAH!

ONE HOUR TO GO TO IMMINENT DISASTER! My Spoiler Shelter is open. I have beer and a BBQ, bring more booze.

Discovery Channel vs. Doctor Who and Torchwood

Remember that 'I love the whole world' commercial they had going? hllangel made a vid, and it's totally awesome ^^

<lj-embed id="11" />

"I love real dirty things" Heeeeeeeeee *g*

It kind of saved my mood a little. Still, I'm going to snap at someone at work today today, I'm quite sure. Why does all the crap always happen at the same time??

AUGH!

DO NOT WANT THESIS, DO. NOT. WANT! Er, sorry. My life is all helpless flailing and bouts of random antipathy towards everything right now because I'm FAILING at thesis finishing. If I keep fretting so much, the damn thing'll never be done, but at the moment I cling to it and don't want to show it to anyone IN CASE I SUCK. The PostDoc trying to be supportive DOES NOT HELP.

Instead, my brain focusses on fandom too much.

So we agree that the botched regeneration rumor is almost certainly true, right? Because we all cling to Tennant and don't believe the BBC could keep something like that quiet (and he's been spotted on set for the specials, yes?), right?

You know what'd be the good thing if Rose does indeed gets her own human Doctor!clone (well, apart from Tennant showing his moves... probably naked, he was wearing only bathrobe in one of his interviews)? We'll finally see the end of all the Reunion!fics. Not that I don't read them, but the meagre ones are getting as abundant as the Jack/Ianto fluff, if you know what I mean. Not that I don't enjoy it once in a while, but it's been done so often now.

... or will someone complain that she's 'only getting part of him'?!

Also, in the Confidential I had to laugh quite loudly when RTD suggests all good love stories would improve with a Dalek shooting the male character during a reunion scene... because I agree wholeheartedly.

Ignore me, I'm a bit bitter at the moment. That damn Doctor should try battling Microsoft for once.

*ahem*

Will continue to edit graphs nao, sorry.

That was that. Again

Spain is European Soccer Champion. Well done, folks.

Ah well, they earned it, it was a terrible thing to watch as a German fan, but I really don't like to see our players so down.

It was still an awful lot of fun during the last weeks and I can't stay sad when they're playing 'Eviva Espana'. It's still a great night. People were very, very calm about it, I guess it's because the goal fell so early, no high feelings in the end (more like bleak acceptance), leaving the crowd was okay. Well, apart from the fact that I don't enjoy standing in a huge crowd so much.

So many things seem to have changed since the World Cup in 2006. For one, it's great to see the happy patriotism in a country where flying flags on official buildings usully raise the questions "Who died?"/"What date is it?"/"Another catastrophe somewhere?". And so many of the fans are young girls, which is probably why the huge crowds stayed so friendly this time. Everyone needs a fandom, I *think* I even met one or two slashers... then I had an interesting discussion why there are no homosexual players. Ah, fun evening ^^

But even the most batshit fans agreed that the Spanish earned it.

The best part? The atmosphere of a huge party gripping everyone. I've rarely seen a fest in this town where so many strangers met to dance and drink and party outside. And then meet on their bike convoy home, quietly leaving the Spainish alone to party. It's such a nice tradition. And well, second best is something.

Fic: Imaginary

Title: Imaginary
Summary: Deep inside the Citadel, there is a lonely room, forever holding a lonely Time Lord
Fandom(s): Doctor Who
Characters: The Doctor
Spoilers: 4x12 The Stolen Earth
Rating/Warnings: None
Word count: 676
Note 1: This is a sort-of AU for New Who, or maybe takes place after the season 4 finale. It's a bit complicated and was based on something stated in 4x12. I really hope it makes sense, comments and concrit are love. Betaed by xwingace, the quickest beta on this side of the Milky Way.
Note 2: Yes, this was written half an hour after the episode aired. I can't believe I can write fic, but not one coherent sentence of my thesis. I'm going to get stinking drunk now while watching the European Soccer Championship finale. FI-NA-LE. Ooooh. \o/
Fic Masterlist: Here.

"Emergency Temporal Shift took him back into the Time War itself. Oh, it cost him his mind. But imagine, a single, simple Dalek succeeded where Emperors and Time Lords have failed..."

- Davros, the Stolen Earth

Deep inside the Citadel (at last fully reconstructed), there is a lonely room, forever holding a lonely Time Lord. The most important Time Lord since the mighty Rassilon. He's kept there and cared for, not because he's dangerous -- though some people would stress that he once was the most dangerous Meddler -- but because it is the only thing they can do for him. He broke their rules and saved them all. The Time Lords have always known what honour is due to the saviour of their kind.

The young ones no longer stare into the Abyss of the Schism, but visit his chamber as their initiation to the Academy.

They sit before his body, always still like a statue -- frozen in Time but for the rise and fall of his chest -- and listen to his mind. There they learn to understand what it means to make sacrifices for their race, for the universe. To overcome any obstacle to save one's own. They know he broke a Time Lock to go back and save them from the Dalek fleet. He gave his life, his sanity, to stop the war, to win it once and for all. They gaze into the brown eyes that hold madness, and are filled with understanding.

Some run away from his stare, but most are inspired. Not one pupil turns mad anymore, understanding calming frantic thoughts and distant drums forever. The Council agrees that it is an elegant solution.

Sometimes he talks, only his mouth moving in the stony mask that is his face. It could have been a pretty face, some agree, but for the deep, everlasting madness in his eyes and the complete lack of anything resembling a smile on his lips.
The words coming from those lips are considered a prophecy for the students witnessing them, for he only talks if his dreams, the memories tangled in his head in the wrath of Time, make some sort of sense for him.
"Jack," he sometimes says to the dark-haired boys (and the younglings' faces fall in horror; it's bad luck), "Donna," he whispers almost always to the few loomed redheads, the most blessed future Time Ladies. Already being ginger has turned into the latest regeneration fashion.

The insanity of breaking the Time Lock has hold over his brain. He lives inside his head, their greatest medics say. These great physicians of mind and body cannot help him; they don't dare to delve into his insane mindscape for too long. It's not healthy, and feels like an affront to this greatest living Time Lord. Whenever they try, they cause pain, leaving him with images of gruesome torture – by Daleks, by humans, by his own kind. They leave him in his dreams. They only touch the surface, and what they see there is saddening enough.

He dreams while he's awake; of an imaginary Earth, of his human pet companions and their adventures.
He's living adventures as the Last of his Kind, shouldering burdens even in the sanctity of his mind. He does not remember that he saw the War end and then did the impossible, tore the universe open to stop it. Impossible had never been a word in his vocabulary. He's happy in his dreams, happier than he ever was among his own kind.

The young ones learn a lot from him, watching him battle the demons of their past in his head forever. He'd never give up, never step down and let injustice win.

He'd smile if he knew how involved the new generation is with the lesser species, righting the wrongs of the cosmos. Thanks to his inspiration, meddling won't ever be a capital crime again.
The old ones huff in displeasure when another catastrophe is averted by a quick-thinking youngster, but memories of a War That Never Was makes them turn a blind eye, remembering the One Who Sacrificed Everything.

The Doctor saved their universe. And in his confused mind, he continues to do so, never knowing that he's stopped running, that he's finally home.

---

who_daily? a href=http://dune-drd.livejournal.com/273484.html>Imaginary</a> by lj user=dune_DRD> (Ten | No rating | Spoilers: The Stolen Earth)

Doctor Who 4x12 - The Stolen Earth

It was late because of tennis, wasn't it? Stupid tennis. At least it wasn't cancelled and it wasn't because of snooker. DO NOT LAUGH. Happened to my other fandom MORE THAN ONCE! Remember when we used to watch brand new Farscape with Israeli subs? Ah, good old times.

YOU REALLY STILL HAVE MILKMEN?!

The first Who two-parters that actually wasn't too long, I guess all the companion scenes were responsible for that

I actually like Davros. He's wonderfully menacing when he's not using his Hitler yells... was that actually his old theme? It seemed very familar. Well, Daleks, not really my favourite monster, but it works for the companion!emo. Sarah-Jane and Jack must fear them as strongly as the Doctor

Insane Dalek Caan has something quite scary about it. Imagine, the deadliest creatures of the galaxy without a cold and efficient mind? That's the epitome of scary. And the Doc's the Dark Lord? *g*

<s>You know, there should be fic where Ten loses his mind but manages to get the Time Lords back. I might write it once I'm a bit more coherent.</s> Scratch that, I just wrote it. Someone willing to beta 650 words?

I can't believe I was right when I said the bees were pulling a 'So long and thanks for all the <s>fish</s> flower gardens' Thing. *facepalms*

Companion mash! And oh, they were clever. And it was well done as well. Liked the Jack/Everyone, Ten/Ianto tendencies, oh yes. "Not too young" Rawr. Who's writing threesome? It's so good to see them all again

Sarah Jane complaining about the Mr. Smith fanfare. I love that woman

The 'One Second in the Future' was stolen from somewhere, but I don't remember where... Langoliers?

Oh yeah, lots of CGI, but very well used. Did they hire Greg Martin? Loved the shot of the phone waves out of the water fountain

Oh, Harriet Jones. Even the Daleks know who you are because you are so awesome

You know, the Doc could've shown Donna some more compassion after she lost her planet and try a bit harder. I'm just saying he should know how it feels.

What exactly qualifies Richard Dawkins to talk about moving planets? He should stay with his memes and his God hate. Either that or get his wife on Who again

Oh Ianto, mood swings on Who as well as Torchwood? We should really get you those pills

"Everlasting death to the most faithful companion" means Jack's getting mortal, right?

If Martha continues rising through the ranks like this, she'll soon be the New School Brigadier. Not that I disapprove...

So many Old School refs. Lovely.

Shadow Proclamation = Awesome. Albinos look more alien than Judoon to me for some reason. And the Doctor actually speaks Judoon? Heh. He wasn't very pleased to lead someone into battle, was he?

You know, Oster Hagen Key sounds a lot like 'Osterhasen' Key. I still have no idea what the Easter Bunny has to do with that, but I bet it's this year's Deus Ex Machina

Rose was... Rose. Well, instantly jealous about everything and everyone, but then clearly she's been waiting for him while he was busy luring other people into his TARDIS <s>promising candy</s>... I find it a bit offensive that she obviously feels threatened by Martha, but not by Donna. SOMETHING ISN'T RIGHT THERE.

Everything's significant this year, isn't it? Medusa Cascade is where the Doctor sealed his name, wasn't it?

No Jack/Rose? Aw, come on! I know the regen was more important, but still.

So Jack was stuck because of two numbers, yes? I can't believe he didn't try all possible sequences, it's not as if he's lacking the time

So... er, I can't believe the regeneration rumors were actually true. We saw the hand twice, too which makes it more obvious that it'll play a role... WHY DO I SUDDENLY GET A FARSCAPE SEASON 3 ARC FEELING ABOUT THE FINALE?!?

They couldn't hide a real regeneration from us, could they? COULD THEY? *bites nails*

8/10

IS IT NEXT WEEK NAO!? And when do we get trailers?

Looking at Old School Who

You know, after solving that episode puzzle for today, the text snippet got me thinking

Doctor: There's no readings. Nothing. Not a trace. Not even a wisper. Ohh that's fearsome technology.
Donna: So what do we do?
Doctor: We've got to get help
Donna: Where from?
Doctor: Donna. I'm taking you to the Shadow Proclamation. Hold on tight!!

I wonder why he's suddenly all about 'getting help', usually it cramps his style to ask for it (but I guess he'll let Donna do the talking for her planet...).

You know, calling the Shadow Proclamation for help when you're a certified Meddler with a capital M might not be the best idea ever, Doctor. Look where it got Two when he called his own people to sort out some mess... I'm just saying. <s>That and I really hope the Shadow Proclamation has Vorlons and Shadows in it.</s>

Well, I still haven't found the source of the 'botched regen spoiler', much less for the Mary Sue end for Rose and John Smith!Doc, so I won't believe it for now. I think. It's such a fanfic ending that I can't quite see Russel pulling it off.

*bites nails* Right? RIGHT?! I might squirm even more than during the Jack/Face of Boe scene.

Stolen Earth preview

Oh dear, they are in trouble.

<lj-embed id="10" />

I love that they've apparantly kept the sinister!Dalek theme from 'Dalek' which sounds like that musical instrument Van Statten kept. That's more continuity than everything else we've seen on screen. So, Sarah-Jane knows they can't win against a Dalek fleet, and Jack gets all emo because they're the onel (Who)creatures that understandably scare him massively. Gwen/Ianto goodbye kisses included. Oh dear, this could turn out to be an awesome finale or a catastrophe (if those other spoilers about the Doctor are true, that is). Fanwanky-tastic, I tell you, and I don't believe them <s>yet</s>. Even Rusty has a better understanding of the Doctor... I think.

So, Jack's still immortal at that point, Sarah Jane and Jack don't think the Doc will save them in the nick of time... where are they? And is Jack actually on the phone to Mister Smith? Because Sarah-Jane/Jack IS SO RIGHT ON SO MANY LEVELS!

It'll be a quite early scene, right? Because they don't want to spoil us too much, right? Oh, I can't wait for those opening credits!Discuss?

Also, rumor has it that David will be offered 100,000 Pounds per episode, so that he'll stay. I'll buy more merchandsie if it helps? And isn't Barrowman fangirling Lis Sladen the cutest thing ever? ^^

To say it with the words of the Republic: FI-NA-LE!

Oh, my nerves, what a game that was.

Not only was the 3:2 done in the last minutes (usually a speciality of the Turks), but the freaking live feed was cut off not once, but TWICE during the 1:1. Ack. ZDF reacted quickly and let the commentator comment on the phone, but it's a long way from TV commentator to radio commentator if you have any idea what I'm talking about. And listening to him in a huge crowd of fans was quite impossible anyway.

During the second cut everybody called someone else to find out if was just a regional problem (it wasn't), before ZDF switched to the Swiss broadcast. Well, Peter called his wife, who swore on everything that was holy that her sattelite broadcast said it was 2:1 already. Cue much wondering ("It can't've happened during the blackout, the commentator would've said" and "Well, the Swiss are definetly drunk") before, TWO FREAKING MINUTES LATER, Klose made the 2:1. I had people clinging to me by then. MY NERVES. What an awesome, thrilling game. Not the best soccer ever, but still definetly nerve-wracking.

We're on the Road to Wien, people! Yayz! The best thing being that I've heard of no larger German/Turk brawls so far and made it safely home through throngs of drunk but happy and polite people. Well done.

Btw, is it true that the American embassy released a warning about Germany's big public viewing areas around the time of the game?

And doesn't our chancellor do the nicest victory cheering? *lol* Angie got more applause than the missed goal opportunities ^^

Drabble and meme

As seen all over the flist: When you see this post, quote from Doctor Who on your LJ.

"A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting."
- Three, the Time Warrior

<s>Which is my standard excuse when I'm getting lost again</s>

Title: Life on Mars
Characters: Jack
Spoilers: Turn Left
Rating: None
Word count: 100
Notes: Written for tw_wotd_fic's prompt 'renascent'. I'm so totally drained I can't even begin to look at that damn text document anymore. It shouldn't be so hard! My fingers itch to write (fic, that is, not results), but my brain refuses to come up with ideas. GAH, that's frustrating. All I can do is a drabble, it seems. I really wanted to write something longer, more serious and deeper, but my head won't let me, sorry. Unbetaed, so comments and concrit are love.

Fic/Drable Masterlist: Here.

Imagine there's war, and no one would come.
- Bertolt Brecht

"The Unslayable Soldier walks among us," the Sontaran (fortunately the goatee was memorable in that uniform face) roared, millions of warriors answering with cheers. Jack swallowed hard. Escape from Sontara would be tricky.

As if on cue, every beady eye focussed on him. Goatee's hand patted Jack's back encouragingly, the strength of it making him reel. What was planned for him? Eternal hunts? Fights? Deaths?

"Oh, God of War, what is your command?!" Goatee yelled, and it took Jack a moment to understand the sight in front of him.

The entire Sontaran army kneeling wasn't something you saw every day.

Finale Speculation

If we see the Bad Wolf again, does that mean we get a kind of resolution to Jack's storyline, too?

Until now, we've assumed the immortality was a fluke by a girl who didn't understand the power she held, but if Rose is back and the Bad Wolf seems to be stronger than ever, can't we assume something is going to happen to Jack as well? I mean, she seems to be the embodiment of the <s>Deus Ex Machina</s> Bad Wolf once more, so it should be mentioned somehow.

From the deleted Torchwood scenes we know that he thinks he was being kept alive for a certain reason and we could name several already: To be able to meet the Doctor again at the end of the universe, to defeat Abbadon, to save New New York as the Face of Boe (DO NOT WANT), etc. etc.
So... maybe we'll see Jack lose/use his immortality for the greater good, yes? I can't see them getting rid of it totally (it's just such a perfect plot device), but it would make sense to use it, as it's linked to the Bad Wolf as well. Maybe they'll leave us with a kind of cliffhanger if he does or doesn't wake up again, for Torchwood?

Do we get some Jack/Rose dialogue? Do we get some Gwen/Gwyneth explanation? Does RTD manage to wrap up all the threads that are still loose?

That finale can't ever be long enough to resolve all my Jack/Bad Wolf questions :/

Also, I want to write Jack/Sontaran homeworld fic, but it doesn't get out of my head.... damn.

ETA: I only now noticed that the Italian was the same as in Ashes to Ashes, which makes him a minor character in two alternate lives. Coincidence? I THINK NOT! *g*

Also, I have far too much fun with the Spore Creature Editor. That game's going to be awesome.

Doctor Who 4x11 - Turn Left

Aaaah... who needs to work late when you can have Who instead? So much better than staring at graphs. I can't believe that we only have two more weeks of coming episodes. What will I do on saturdays then?

I'm in love with What If stories. And it's great to see that companions have such a major role in the Doctor's life and, well, the safety of the Earth

Shan Shen scenes were wonderful, that was more or less the pinnacle of the Doctor's travels for me, strange food, strange people, lots of fun. Who votes that this was some human colony in the Firefly universe? I bet there were browncoats.

Oh, what a bleak, bleak world it would be without the Doctor. And everyone important got namechecked, gee, how subtle that was. No wait, it WASN'T. And everybody's dead. Ouch.

You know, a serious Rose is all I've ever asked for, so I was quite okay with her. I don't understand the reason why she was there (well, apart from her still being the Bad Wolf) and she was the ultimate Mary Sue in that Alt!verse, but well, can't have everything. That look if she and the Doctor were an item was already too much for my taste, but I see there's much history there, maybe even more from Rose's point of view. Here's hoping that RTD manages their second goodbye well

It was a nice idea for an episode, but it all took far, far too long in that dystopian world

I love, love LOVE the fact that we get echoes of the Doctor's theme throughout the episode and even some glimpses of Torchwood's theme during the Sontaran crisis. There should be an AU with Jack on the Sontaran home world. With lots of Probic Vents jokes. I would've thought he'd blow up the ship himself, not getting caught, apparently.

Concentration camps in the UK? That was more jarring than some of the science in that episode. I know it happened around the world before WWII, but what happened to 'Never Again'?

The scene with the truck was a 'Run Lola Run' hommage, wasn't it? It had the bleak feeling of Farscape's Different Destinations as well (it had me screaming "Harvey knew. Scorpious knows!!!" when time took a similar course... I'm a geek and after all these years still in love with 'Unrealized Reality' which is - ironically - also episode 4x11. Huh. I didn't even remember that one Buffy episode until someone mentioned it). Ack, now I have to listen to Lola's OST again... so long ago, and it's still so awesome. I never noticed that the movie even starts like Who always did, with that shot from space

A dying TARDIS made me really, really sad.

The Italian was the Italian from Ashes to Ashes! I knew he seemed familiar ^^

No Metebelis 3 Spider, I'm so glad. The beetle was quite awesome *g*

I am really, really fearing for Donna's life now. She died once already, and somehow I guess with the portents of that fortune teller, we'll see it again…

Cloister bell > Everything. But why was it a Red Alert and not a Mauve one? Or do we get Paradox Machine repercussions?

Nope, that cliffhanger doesn't surpass Utopia's, because Utopia had Jack. I'm shallow that way.

So, Donna's going to save the universe because she's brilliant. Yes, that makes complete sense, because she's awesome.

Straight from Rose's mouth: Names hold power. So, like boji, I assume almost all time travelers seem to 'misplace' their names, so they vanish from time lines, not upsetting some sort of balance. That explains the humans/Time Agents, at least. I'm not too sure about Time Lords, as only the mad ones seem to assume aliases after the Academy. I still say their names command power, and whoever knows the name has power over the Time Lord... I have no idea how that'll help with the finale, but well.

The concept of a creature feeding off altered time is awfully familiar, but I can't place it. Help? Only thing that's coming close is that one Torchwood book, but that's not it :/

Nice episode, but some parts just didn't fit, like Rose being there (which in itself was fine, but just not storywise), or that mirror/time machine... I don't know.
7/10

TRAILER SPOILERS

OMG, that trailer! Everyone plus added emo!Jack/Gwen/Ianto! My and has Luke grown! He looks taller than Sarah-Jane already. And of course, the entire universe is at stake, or should that be the Whoniverse? I'm not surprised, it's the ultimate danger before RTD leaves. Let's see if it works for me, bigger isn't always better.

I wonder how that obvious Enemy D (and was that a laugh?) will cause the end of everything?

IS IT NEXT WEEK ALREADY?!

Just in time for the Russian goal. Oh dear, now we're in trouble...

So....

Semifinals of the European Championship will be Germany against Turkey. Does that actually qualify as civil war? Be safe out there, you public viewers.

Poor Croatians. Manly men crying manly tears always make me sad.

Sometimes The Sun makes my day and I do know how weird that sounds. But, like the BILD, they just have the most hilarious stories.

Make sure you read the comments, too. Where's Torchwood when you need them? Someone needs to write that fic!

3:2 against Portugal. I was really thinking we'd be out of the European Championship at this point. Oh, Ronaldo, how much I hate you.

YAYZ! One more week of a republic flying its flag :)

Heilige Scheiße, JA!

If you pardon my German. I seem to be using it quite a lot while talking about the upcoming Who season finale, let's hope that it stays being an exclamation of awe...

That season finale promo picture we've all been waiting for and two more, stolen from yuxonomei.

ETA: Now in wallpaper size as well. adklhasfsadlkf! My little take on a wallpaper

The entire universe is in danger as the Daleks activate their masterplan, in the concluding episode of Russell T Davies's Bafta Award-winning time-travelling drama. The Doctor is helpless, and even the Tardis faces destruction. The only hope lies with the Doctor's secret army of companions – but as they join forces to battle Davros himself, the prophecy declares that one of them will die.

David Tennant plays the Doctor and Catherine Tate plays his companion, Donna Noble.

I'm still a bit scared that this means that rubbish DigitalSpy spoiler summary was correct :/

Damn, I didn't want to get excited... Please, please RTD don't ruin this!

THEM

An idea that came from a discussion with kijikun, which characters are quite obviously (fob-watched) Time Lords?
