Notes: Originally written for tw_wotd_fic. This is a by-product of another fic I wrote earlier, but it was cut because it didn't quite fit. But it fits 'efface' in a strange sort of way. Thanks to xwingace for betaing and convincing me to post it.

Jack feeds the pigeons in the park while he is waiting for his team when a shiver forces its way through his body, tailing behind the feeling as if someone just walked over his grave. He grins, calculating the possibility of that ever happening. The few seconds he's distracted is all it takes for the pale girl to sit down next to him, surprising him with her almost soundless approach.

"Do I know you?" Jack asks. The woman with her messed up black hair looks at him funny, shoving her sunglasses out of the way of her dark eyes. And she doesn't look too happy. Pity.

"I have this strange sense of déjà-vu all of a sudden," he says, grinning at her. Not his best line, but not his worst. And it is true.

"Don't you even dare to flirt with me," she says, almost poking him with her outstretched index finger "I have better things to do than clean up after you." She pauses, as if weighing the pros and cons of a longer speech. In the end she just shakes her head. "Don’t mess things up even more than you already have."

When she doesn't continue he tries to ask her how she knows him, where they met, what she wants, but she cuts him short.

"I’ll get back to you, Jack." She promises and gets up "I have more important work to do first."

"So damn sexy," Jack smiles, watching her backside as she walks away.

For a moment he thinks about following her, but then there's shouting and the sound of guns and pain and he realizes his team brought work and stray bullets. One gets him in the chest and he collapses behind the park bench, but thankfully he's up again before anyone notices he was gone. The shirt is ruined, but the coat can cover that until he's back at the Hub.

He never forgets that strange woman's eyes.
